Wines by KT “bianca by KT” Vermentino – Clare Valley 2019
Vermentino is a light-skinned wine grape variety, primarily found in Italian wine. It is widely planted in both Sardinia and Liguria, to some extent in Corsica and also in Piedmont under the name Favorita.
The grape is said to have been cultivated in part of Gallura (Sardinia), often under the name Arratelau, since the fourteenth century.
It is unclear if vermentino is also identical to the variety rollo found in eastern Provence, around Nice. Both that variety and vermentino go under the synonym rolle.
Bianca by KT is made from vermentino grown by the Koerner family in the hamlet of Leasingham in the Clare Valley,
This wine is created using wild fermentation techniques, meaning there is no added yeast, and partially fermented in older French oak barrels. This vermentino has gorgeous aromatics and florals and a textural savoury palate with a zesty citrus finish.
It’s perfect with a roast chicken! Sardines are another very popular match.
