West Cape Howe Book Ends Cabernet Sauvignon – Great Southern WA 2017

RRP $30

West Cape Howe was founded in 1997, quickly becoming one of Western Australia’s favourite wine brands. Owned by four Western Australian families, Gavin Berry has been Managing Partner & Senior Winemaker since 2004 and he now has had over 30 vintages in the Great Southern.

West Cape Howe’s very best blocks of Mt Barker cabernet sauvignon are reserved for this wine. For this vintage selected fruit from the Karri Oak, Langton and Windy Hill vineyards was used.

2017 was generally a cooler season and the harvest commenced later than usual. The cabernet is always the last to ripen and the winemakers kept a very close eye on it as the timing was crucial in making sure it was flavour perfect.

This is a medium bodied cabernet sauvignon that can be enjoyed now with many foods, especially red meats. It will, however, definitely reward further cellaring as it will continue to develop over the next 6 ++ years.
